This full VJ workshop is an invitation to enter the live video field, giving you the theoretical and the technical tools to develop your own live visual project.
We will explore during the workshop the VJ backgrounds, from visual arts to cinema and music, focusing on the dramaturgy of the performance and the performing body on stage.
The participants will be initiated to the specific live technical workflow, including video codecs, and will learn to use Resolume Avenue VJ software.
Each participant will create a short 5-8 minutes VJ set and will play it live at the end of the
workshop.
The workshop is supported by Resolume Software. The participants will receive a free serial number to work with during the workshop duration.
Who can join?
Any person interested in visual arts and live video performing.
No previous knowledge is needed but fresh new VJS are also invited to join to develop their
projects and to improve their skills. Please provide a short motivation letter, precising your backgrounds.
We want to support diversity and visibility and especially encourage Women and LGBT persons to take part to the workshop.
What you have to bring?
Your laptop (Mac or PC)
Please bring some video footages and/or some stills that you wish to use for the workshop.
Installing the demo version of Resolume Avenue and the free DXV codec on resolume.com
If you use Adobe Premiere, After Effects and/or Final Cut Pro or any video / pictures Software, that’s a good plus, but not a requirement
Quicktime must be installed on your laptop

About the workshop-holder
A-li-ce (FR / Berlin) works as a VJ and video artist since 2005. Graduated of art school and university with a Master 2 in video art theory, she has performed in many audiovisual festivals like Mapping Festival (CH), Mira (ES), RoBOt Festival (IT), B-Seite (DE), etc. Engaged in transmission, she teaches in art institutions and universities across Europe, leading
courses about live video creation processes.
In Berlin, she is part of the art curation team Scope Sessions, and co-founded in 2017 the VJ Open Lab community which offers a monthly meeting to the media artists in the audiovisual art space Spektrum.
