The Workshop<br \/>\nwill take place in Berlin University of Arts-UDK (Hardenbergstra\u00dfe 33 ). Dates: 16 and 17 of Aprile. Starting time from 14:00 until 17:00. Room 34C.<\/p>\n<p>Places for the participants are limited, we want to make sure that you<br \/>\nare really interested to attend. Please send us confirmation letter to the E-mail: freieklasse@interflugs.local with a few sentence about\u00a0 your<br \/>\nactivity and write in the subject name of the Workshop: Visual Story\u00a0 Telling \u2013 Ethics, Practices and Techniques<br \/>\nAn event is free of charge.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p>Description:<br \/>\nThis workshop is aimed at visual storytellers with an emphasis on<br \/>\nphotography but the techniques and issues covered will overlap with film<br \/>\nand other media. We will look at the obstacles and practical solutions<br \/>\nto long-term projects \u2013 how to identify a story, how to gain access to<br \/>\nspaces and communities, and the ethics involved. The workshop will ask<br \/>\nquestions like, How am I uniquely qualified to tell this story? Should I<br \/>\nbe telling this story? What is my obligation to the people and spaces I<br \/>\nwork in and with? How do I create a story about a very personal topic?<br \/>\nWe will talk about real life experiences and will also touch on how to<br \/>\nmake things happen and what to do with finished projects \u2013 funding,<br \/>\npublishing and exhibition\/screening possibilities. The workshop will be<br \/>\ntheoretical (we\u2019re not going to make work together) but the participants<br \/>\nare expected to ask questions, be open and respectful, and be willing to<br \/>\nparticipate in group discussions.<\/p>\n<p>Who can join:<br \/>\nAnyone interested in visual storytelling. Maybe you\u2019ve already created<br \/>\nstories and are looking for inspiration, maybe you\u2019re too scared to<br \/>\nstart, maybe you\u2019re in the middle of a project and looking for guidance.<br \/>\nNo previous experience in necessary and people from all backgrounds and<br \/>\ncultural experiences are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n<p>About the workshop holder:<br \/>\nAlexa Vachon is a Canadian born, New York educated, Berlin based<br \/>\nphotographer and photojournalist who works on assignment for various<br \/>\ninternational publications and on long-term projects focusing on women\u2019s<br \/>\nrights and human rights. Vachon has recently self-published two books \u2013<br \/>\none about a football team for refugee women in Berlin and one about<br \/>\nqueer and feminist pornography. Another book, following The Knife on<br \/>\ntheir last international tour, was published in 2017.
