CAAT is new series of online-streamed ‘collective activist artist talks’ via fakultaetnull.org (an initiative of Interflugs).

Following questions and ideas arising from past Interflugs TV episodes of Plotting Trouble and our online sit-in for financial aid solidarity, we have invited Baruch Gottlieb for a discussion in three parts:
1. Why is UBI (universal basic income) not the solution to our current struggle and what could actually work instead?
2. Taking a closer look at Paul Cockshott’s and Allin Cottrell’s „Towards a New Socialism” – a concept for a socialist society.
3. Asking questions from feminist, queer and racial perspectives. How to take intersectionality serious without getting lost in liberal identity politics?

The discussion is moderated and led by Misa Harz, a student at Freie Universität, Berlin. Currently Misa is finishing her studies in art history and social and cultural anthropology, while working towards her masters in Aesthetics, with a focus in computational aesthetics and their political implications.

Baruch Gottlieb, trained as a filmmaker at Concordia University Montreal, has a doctorate in digital aesthetics from the University of Arts Berlin. From 2005-2008 he was professor of Media Art at Yonsei University Graduate School for Communication and Arts in Seoul, Korea. He is an active member of the Telekommunisten, Arts & Economic Group and laboratoire de déberlinisation artist collectives. He writes extensively on digital media, digital archiving, generative and interactive processes, digital media for public space and on social and political aspects of networked media.
